Lighthouse in Cala Ratjada

The Capdepera lighthouse in Cala Ratjada is about 76 meters above sea level and 18 meters high. It was designed by Emili Pou and since November 30, 1861 it has been guiding the many ships and boats safely into the sea Harbor.

The lighthouse is located at the end of Carrer D'Atunes in Cala Ratjada. You can get to the lighthouse by car, moped, bicycle (inexperienced people will certainly have to push part of the way, as the climb is quite steep), and of course on foot. It is about 1.4 km from the market place in Cala Ratjada up to the lighthouse.

From the lighthouse you have a wonderful view of Cala Ratjada, the sea and on sunny days even to the small sister island of Menorca. Especially for this route Menorca - Cala Ratjada the lighthouse is an important part for navigation.

There are four habitable lighthouses in Mallorca, Cala Ratjada is one of them. Near the lighthouse there are also the ruins of the old fortified tower Sa Torre Esbucada from the XVIII century, which was destroyed by the English in 1808 and has not been rebuilt since.
