Here are our recommendations for some other beaches that are accessible by car from Cala Ratjada and are more suitable for a day trip. Under the description of each beach you will also find the coordinates, so you can safely find each bay with the navigation system.

Arenal de sa Canova

Arenal de sa Canova is about 25 kilometers from Cala Ratjada. A beautiful natural beach with very fine sand. The dunes and the pine forests behind them are also beautiful. The beach is not very crowded, due to its position and length it leaves a lot of space for bathers and is ideal to spend a whole day there. However, it is not possible to buy drinks or similar there, so you absolutely have to pack a picnic basket. You must also ensure suitable sun protection and bring a parasol with you.
You can drive almost to the beach. It is not easy to find, but the approach is signposted, you just have to follow these signs, then you can park in a free car park shortly before and walk the rest of the way about 5 minutes.
The beach is also used as a nudist beach.

Cala Mondrago

Cala Mondragó is located in the southeast of Mallorca, about 6 kilometers from Alquería Blanca and Portopetro. This beautiful cove is part of the Cala Mondragó Nature Reserve. The bay is very popular with tourists and locals alike, mainly due to the fine sandy beach and clear water, the sandy beach also slopes gently into the water, making it ideal for families with children. Our recommendation: arrive early in the morning and get a nice seat, or take a refreshing swim in the late afternoon. There is free parking around the natural bay. From Cala Ratjada you can reach the natural bay in about 1 hour by car.

Cala en Tugores

A beautiful natural beach is Cala en Tugores. This natural bay is about 7 kilometers from Ses Salines and cannot be reached by car. The walk, depending on where you park the car, is about 3.5 kilometers (if you come from Ses Salines towards the lighthouse) or about 5 kilometers (if you come from Colonia de Sant Jordi via the beaches).
You should anchor here with caution, as the shore water is very shallow and juts far out into the sea. There are also many underwater rocks that are often not visible to the naked eye. The bay in the south of Mallorca is about 75 kilometers from Cala Ratjada and can be reached in about 1 ½ hours by car.

Cala Falco

Like a postcard motif, one of the most beautiful bays in Mallorca is about 7 kilometers from Magaluf. Cala Falcó is particularly interesting for divers because a Greek shipwreck lies here at a depth of about 30 m. Surrounded by pine groves, the bay only offers space for a few bathers, the small beach is very small but not very popular. Great for snorkeling and diving, and you can also anchor here by boat. The way to this beautiful bay is well signposted, drive via Cala Vinyes to Cap des Falco and you're there. From Cala Ratjada you can reach the bay in about 50 minutes by car.

Cala Formentor

Cala Formentor is located in the north of Mallorca. It is a slightly larger bay, almost 900 m long, partly sandy and partly rocky, about 14 km from Port de Pollença. Pine trees and rocks surround this busy bay, here you can enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the natural bay all day long. The access route is well signposted, but unless you are an early riser, parking is not easy to find in the main summer months of July and August. However, if you prefer to go to the bay after 10am, you can get there by public bus, which does not run very often.
You need about 1 hour by car from Cala Ratjada to reach Cala Formentor.

Cala Nau near Cala Millor

Cala Nau is a section of the almost 2 km long sandy beach in Cala Millor, which borders directly on the nature reserve Sa Punta de n'Amer. The beach here is partially crisscrossed with flat rocks, but perfect for swimming with children. The sand is very fine and white in colour. Coming from Cala Ratjada, follow the signs to Sa Coma, then head towards Cala Millor. At the roundabout, head towards “Auditorium Sa Maniga”, then immediately take the first street on the right, this is Cala Nau. A public bus also stops on the main road. The beach of Cala Millor is very busy, especially in July and August. Here in Cala Nau, i.e. at the beginning of the beach, it is a bit quieter. In just 20 minutes you can reach the long sandy beach by car from Cala Ratjada.

Cala Torta

Cala Torta is about 10 km from Arta and about 30 minutes by car from Cala Ratjada. A beautiful natural beach set in front of some dunes and between low rocks. It is not very suitable for children because the beach slopes very quickly into the sea. The currents are also sometimes very strong here, you should definitely pay attention to the flags and observe the absolute ban on bathing when the flag is red. Experienced divers will find a small paradise here, there are many rocks and corners to observe many different sea creatures. The bay is also used as a nudist beach. The route is well signposted coming from Cala Ratjada, just follow the signs to Cala Torta. You can drive your car to just before the beach and park there for free.

Es Carbó near Colonia de Sant Jordi

The beautiful beach, covered with fine sand, is about 1.4 kilometers long and shines in true natural splendor. Access by car is not possible, you can only get here on foot from Colonia de Sant Jordi or from Cap de ses Salines. As a result, the bay is not very busy even in the main summer months and you can still enjoy this wonderful tranquility. However, it is about 2.5 kilometers that the beach visitor has to walk, which is definitely worth it. From Cala Ratjada you drive about 1 hour by car to Es Carbó.

It Trenc

The natural beach Platja des Trenc is about 6 kilometers from Colònia de Sant Jordi, dunes frame the fine sand. This beach, which is almost 2 kilometers long, is visited by many bathers, and here too, whoever comes first gets one of the most beautiful spots. Until recently it was possible to park your car in a private car park just in front of the bay, but this has been closed and the municipality offers paid parking in the streets in front of the beach area. There is also a bus stop here, so you can save yourself the annoying parking problem. A visit to the beach is definitely worthwhile, but you should plan a whole day for it. You can rent umbrellas and sun loungers on some parts of the beach for a fee. From Cala Ratjada you drive about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Coming from Cala Ratjada, drive in the direction of Manacor, then Campos and Ses Salines, then in the direction of Playa Es Trenc. The way is well signposted.
